  • Choose Flu Vaccination – Private when booking.
  • Check that your confirmation names Cheadle Hulme Centre.
  • Read the payment and cancellation details before confirming.
  • Call 0161 486 9110 if you need help choosing the right appointment.

You can also view our Cheadle Hulme branch details before setting off. Contact us about access needs or if you are booking for someone under 18, so we can check the options first.

Should you book privately or use the NHS?

Check whether you can have a free NHS flu vaccination before paying. For 2026/27, eligible groups include people aged 65 or over, some adults with long-term conditions, pregnant women, carers and people living with someone whose immune system is weakened. Other groups also qualify: check the full NHS eligibility guidance.

If you qualify, follow the NHS booking route. Our private calendar below is a separate service. If you are unsure, tell our team about your circumstances and we can help you find the right route.

The 2026/27 national flu programme starts for most eligible adults on 1 October 2026, with pregnant women and children offered vaccination from September. These are NHS programme dates; private appointment availability is shown in our calendar.

When should I have my flu vaccination?

Autumn is a useful time to plan your appointment before winter gets busy. The vaccine helps your immune system recognise flu viruses, but protection is not immediate: it usually takes up to 14 days to develop.

You need a flu vaccination each season because protection fades and the strains covered are updated. It cannot prevent every case of flu, but if you do catch it, illness may be milder. The UKHSA flu vaccination guide explains why an annual vaccination matters.

If you have a high temperature, wait until you feel better. Call us before travelling if you are unwell or unsure whether to keep your appointment. This guide is about the injected flu vaccine for adults; speak to us separately about vaccination for a child.

Preparing for your private flu jab in Stockport

We want you to feel comfortable asking questions. Before your private flu jab in Stockport, let our pharmacist know:

  • Whether you have had a serious allergic reaction to a vaccine or one of its ingredients.
  • Any allergies, including an egg allergy, so we can check the vaccine carefully.
  • Which medicines you take and any long-term health conditions.
  • Whether you are pregnant or could be pregnant.
  • Whether you have already had a flu vaccination this season.
  • If needles make you anxious or you have fainted during an injection before.

A little preparation can make the visit easier:

  • Wear a top that lets you uncover your upper arm comfortably.
  • Keep your appointment confirmation and branch address handy.
  • Bring a list of your regular medicines if you cannot remember their names.
  • Allow time to discuss your questions and any aftercare advice.
  • Contact the branch beforehand if you need support with communication or access.

Our pharmacist will explain the vaccination and ask for your consent. You can ask about the vaccine being offered, possible side effects or anything else you are worried about before deciding to go ahead.

What should I expect afterwards?

A sore arm, mild aches or a slightly raised temperature can happen after the injection. These effects usually settle within a day or two. Serious allergic reactions are very rare, and vaccinators are trained to deal with them.

The injected flu vaccine does not contain live flu viruses and cannot give you flu. Keep the information leaflet you receive and follow the advice from your pharmacist. Contact us if you are concerned about how you feel afterwards. Read the NHS information about flu vaccine side effects.
