Hajj & Umrah Vaccinations + Certification
Since 1st February 2025, the Saudi Arabian government requires all travellers — including Hajj pilgrims — to present a valid certificate of vaccination against meningitis. This applies to everyone over the age of two and is mandatory for visa applications.
At Everest Pharmacy, we provide the Meningitis ACWY vaccine along with the essential certification you need.

Why Are Travel Vaccinations Important?
When you travel to certain countries, you may be exposed to pathogens your body has no protection against. This can lead to serious — and in some cases life-threatening — infections such as Hepatitis A or Yellow Fever.
By getting vaccinated before you travel, your body develops immunity against these diseases, giving you the protection you need to stay safe abroad.

How Do Travel Vaccines Work?
Travel vaccines work by introducing a solution that mimics the invading pathogen. This stimulates your immune system to produce antibodies designed to fight off that specific infection. If you’re ever exposed to the real bacteria or virus, your body is ready to neutralise it before it causes harm.
Ideally, you should get vaccinated at least 21 days before departure — sometimes more for vaccines like Rabies, which require multiple doses. This gives your body enough time to build maximum protection.

Travel Vaccination FAQs
How far in advance should I get my travel vaccines?
We recommend booking at least six to eight weeks before your departure. Some vaccines require multiple doses over several weeks. If your trip is sooner, get in touch — we’ll work out the best plan for your timeline.
Do I need a GP referral?
No referral needed. You can book directly with us. During your consultation, our pharmacists will carry out a full travel health assessment covering your medical history, destination risks, and previous vaccinations.
Which vaccines do I need for my trip?
It depends on your destination, trip length, and planned activities. Use the vaccine checker at the top of this page for an initial recommendation, then book a consultation for personalised clinical advice.
Can I get multiple vaccines in one appointment?
Yes, in most cases. Several travel vaccines can be safely administered in the same visit. Some require a course spread over a few weeks, which is another reason to book early.
Do you provide antimalarial medication?
Yes. Our pharmacists are qualified to prescribe antimalarial tablets as part of your travel health consultation. We’ll advise on the most appropriate option for your destination.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring your vaccination record if you have one, along with your travel itinerary — including destination, dates, and planned activities — so we can give you the most accurate advice.
Do you offer the Yellow Fever vaccine?
Yes. Everest Pharmacy is an approved Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre. We administer the vaccine and issue the International Certificate of Vaccination required for entry into certain countries.
How much do travel vaccines cost?
Prices vary by vaccine. Your consultation includes a full cost breakdown with no surprises. For Hajj and Umrah travellers, the Meningitis ACWY vaccine and certificate is £50. Find your nearest branch to check pricing or book in.
