What is the Wegovy Pill?
The Wegovy pill contains oral semaglutide — the same active ingredient found in the Wegovy injection. It works by mimicking GLP-1, a natural hormone that regulates appetite, helping you feel fuller for longer and reducing cravings. It is taken once a day on an empty stomach.
It is available in four dose strengths, starting low and increasing gradually under the guidance of your prescriber:
- 1.5mg daily — Month 1, starting dose
- 4mg daily — Month 2, titration
- 9mg daily — Month 3, titration
- 25mg daily — Month 4 onwards, full maintenance dose
Is the Wegovy pill available on the NHS?
Not currently. NHS access requires a separate NICE evaluation. Until then, it is available privately through regulated providers such as Everslim, operated by Everest Pharmacy. Pricing will be confirmed once stock is confirmed — register below and we will send you full details.
Can I switch from the Wegovy injection?
Yes. The MHRA has confirmed that patients currently on the full dose 2.4mg weekly Wegovy injection can switch directly to the 25mg daily Wegovy pill, without restarting at a lower dose. Your Everest Pharmacy prescriber will guide you through the switch safely.
Who is eligible?
- Adults with a BMI of 30 or above
- Adults with a BMI of 27–30 alongside a weight-related condition (e.g. type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure)
- All patients must complete a clinical consultation with an Everest Pharmacy prescriber before treatment is approved
- Treatment is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if you are currently using another GLP-1 medication (unless switching)
