- adults aged 75 years and over

- individuals who are immunosuppressed aged 6 months and over
Understanding Immunosuppression and Vaccine Eligibility
We know that the rules around a weakened immune system (immunosuppression) can be less straightforward than other eligibility criteria. Searching online can sometimes make things more confusing, as people may think of themselves as immunosuppressed but not actually meet the criteria set out for vaccination.
Who is considered immunosuppressed?
Eligibility for vaccination is officially outlined in Chapter 14a of the Green Book, published by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA). The Green Book is written for healthcare professionals, so it can be difficult for non-experts to follow. To make it easier, here are some of the main groups who usually qualify:
-
People who have had an organ, bone marrow, or stem cell transplant
-
People taking systemic steroids for more than a month
-
People living with HIV
-
People receiving immunosuppressive or immunomodulating biological therapy (including children who are about to start treatment)
-
People undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy
-
People on long-term treatment that suppresses the immune system
-
People with a history of blood cancers such as chronic leukaemia or lymphoma
-
People with genetic disorders that affect the immune system
If you do not fall under the criteria above, you can also get a private COVID vaccine from us for £70.
