Microneedling in Manchester: Collagen Induction, Naturally

If you’re looking for microneedling in Manchester, you want a treatment that’s proven, precise, and delivered by someone who knows what they’re doing. Not a quick fix from a beauty bar.

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, uses fine needles to create tiny channels in the skin. This triggers your body’s natural healing response, stimulating fresh collagen and elastin. The result is smoother texture, refined pores, and softer scarring over time.

At Everest Pharmacy Cheadle Hulme, our microneedling in Manchester is delivered with SkinPen, a medical-grade device. Our Cheadle Hulme service is led by Amjed Zafar (MPharm, NMP), our Independent Prescriber pharmacist. Every treatment plan starts with an honest consultation about your skin and your goals.

It’s part of how we approach aesthetic care. Clinical, measured, and tailored to the individual. Not a one-size-fits-all package.

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment also known as collagen induction therapy. A device with fine, sterile needles creates thousands of microscopic channels in the skin’s surface.

These tiny channels are precise and controlled. They trigger your body’s natural wound-healing response without damaging the surrounding skin. As the skin repairs, it produces fresh collagen and elastin, the proteins that keep skin firm, smooth and youthful.

The result, over a course of treatments, is:

  • Smoother, more even skin texture
  • Refined, less visible pores
  • Softer acne scarring and surgical scarring
  • Improved firmness and tone
  • A brighter, fresher complexion

At Everest Pharmacy Cheadle Hulme, our microneedling in Manchester is performed with SkinPen, the first microneedling device cleared by the FDA. It’s a medical-grade tool with single-use, sterile cartridges, used by clinics worldwide. You can read more about how cosmetic procedures are regulated in the UK on the NHS website.

What Microneedling in Manchester Can Treat

SkinPen microneedling works across two broad areas. Skin rejuvenation and scar treatment.

Treatment Area 1

Skin Rejuvenation

A natural, non-surgical way to refresh the skin across the face, neck, décolletage and hands. Popular with patients who want to improve skin quality without injectables or downtime-heavy procedures.

Commonly treated concerns:

  • Fine lines and early wrinkles
  • Enlarged or visible pores
  • Uneven skin texture and tone
  • Dull or tired-looking skin
  • Ageing skin on the neck and hands
  • Loss of firmness

Treatment Area 2

Scar Treatment

Microneedling is one of the most effective non-surgical options for softening the appearance of scarring. By stimulating collagen in the scarred area, it helps to smooth and blend the skin over time.

Microneedling may help with:

  • Acne scarring
  • Caesarean (C-section) scarring
  • Surgical scars
  • Stretch marks
  • General body-area scarring

A consultation lets us assess your skin and build a realistic plan based on what we can actually achieve for your individual concerns. Microneedling in Manchester pairs well with a considered skincare routine — ask us about Obagi medical skincare to support your results between sessions.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

A typical SkinPen session takes 45 to 60 minutes from start to finish. Here’s how it works:

1
10 mins

Consultation

Your Independent Prescriber pharmacist reviews your skin, your goals and your medical history to confirm microneedling is suitable for you.

2
10 mins

Cleanse & Numb

The skin is thoroughly cleansed and a numbing cream is applied to keep the treatment comfortable.

3
20-30 mins

SkinPen Treatment

The SkinPen device is passed over the treatment area, creating the microchannels that trigger collagen renewal.

4
5 mins

Aftercare & Plan

You’ll leave with clear aftercare instructions and your follow-up sessions booked in.

Treatment Course & Timeline +

Microneedling works best as a course rather than a one-off. For most patients, we recommend:

  • An initial course of three sessions, spaced approximately four to six weeks apart
  • Maintenance sessions as needed, depending on your skin and your goals

Because microneedling relies on your skin building new collagen, results develop gradually. Many patients notice their skin looking fresher and more even within a few weeks, with continued improvement over the following months as collagen production continues. Scarring typically takes a full course, and sometimes more, to show its best results.

Individual results vary and cannot be guaranteed. Your consultation will give you a realistic sense of what microneedling can achieve for your skin.

Is Microneedling Right for You? +

Microneedling is well-tolerated by most healthy adults, but it isn’t suitable for everyone. Certain skin conditions and medical factors can affect whether it’s safe or sensible to go ahead.

When we might not treat

Your pharmacist may advise against microneedling or recommend you see your GP first if any of the following apply:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Active acne, infection or inflamed skin in the treatment area
  • Active cold sores or eczema in the treatment area
  • A history of keloid or raised scarring
  • A blood disorder or anticoagulant (blood-thinning) medication
  • A cancer diagnosis within the last five years, or current chemotherapy/radiotherapy
  • Recent use of isotretinoin (Roaccutane) within the last six months

This list isn’t exhaustive. Your consultation will cover your full medical history and assess your skin, so we can give you honest, individual advice on whether microneedling is the right option for you.

Aftercare: What to Expect After Treatment +

Microneedling aftercare is straightforward, but knowing what’s normal helps. Especially in the first 48 hours.

In the first 24 to 48 hours

  • Redness similar to mild sunburn is normal and usually settles within a day or two
  • Mild warmth, tightness or sensitivity is common and short-lived
  • Slight swelling can happen, particularly after a first treatment

In the following days

  • Skin may feel dry or flake slightly as it renews. Don’t pick or peel — let it come away naturally
  • Makeup can usually be applied after 24 hours once skin has settled
  • Normal skincare can resume after 3 to 5 days, avoiding strong actives like retinoids or acids in the meantime

General aftercare guidance

  • Don’t touch the treated area with unwashed hands for the rest of the day
  • Use gentle cleansers and lukewarm water only for the first couple of days
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms and hot showers for 24 to 48 hours
  • Avoid makeup for the first 24 hours
  • Stay out of direct sun and sunbeds, and use SPF 50 daily once skin has settled
  • Stay well hydrated to support your skin’s recovery

You’ll receive a printed aftercare sheet at your appointment. Contact the branch at any time if you have concerns about how your skin is responding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I book microneedling?

Microneedling is available exclusively at Everest Pharmacy in Cheadle Hulme. Treatments are by appointment only, with a consultation required before your first session. Book online or contact the pharmacy directly to arrange your consultation.

Does microneedling hurt?

Most patients find it very tolerable. We apply a numbing cream before treatment, so you’ll typically feel light pressure and vibration rather than pain. Some areas, like the forehead and along the jaw, can feel more sensitive than others.

How soon will I see results?

Many patients notice a fresher, more even complexion within a couple of weeks. Because microneedling works by building new collagen, the fuller results develop gradually over the following months, and continue to improve across a course of sessions.

How many sessions will I need?

We recommend a course of three sessions spaced approximately four to six weeks apart for most concerns. Scarring may need more. Your clinician will recommend a plan based on your skin at consultation.

Is there any downtime?

Most patients have redness similar to mild sunburn for 24 to 48 hours. Many return to normal routine the same or next day. We recommend avoiding makeup for 24 hours and strenuous exercise, heat and direct sun for a day or two.

What is SkinPen?

SkinPen is a medical-grade microneedling device and the first of its kind to be cleared by the FDA. It uses sterile, single-use cartridges and is designed for precise, controlled treatment. It’s used by clinics worldwide and is considered a gold-standard microneedling tool.

Can microneedling be combined with PRP?

Yes. Microneedling is often combined with PRP (Platelet-rich Plasma) therapy to enhance skin rejuvenation. The microchannels created during treatment help the growth factors in PRP absorb more deeply. Ask about combining the two at your consultation.

Is microneedling good for acne scars?

Microneedling is one of the most effective non-surgical treatments for softening the appearance of acne scarring. It works by stimulating collagen in the scarred area to smooth and blend the skin over time. A course of sessions is usually needed, and your clinician will set realistic expectations at consultation.

Do I need to do anything before my appointment?

Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds and fake tan for a week beforehand. Stop using strong active skincare (retinoids, acids) for a few days before treatment. Let us know about any medications you’re taking, and arrive with clean skin, free of makeup where possible.
